Release notes
What's new in NotchX
NotchX updates itself: when a new version is out, it shows these notes and installs with one click. You can also check from the menu-bar icon › ⓘ › Check for Updates…
1.0.9 · 8 November 2026
- Lighter with Spotify and Music. NotchX now hears about track changes and play / pause straight from the player instead of asking every second, so it wakes your Mac far less while music plays.
1.0.8 · 8 November 2026
- Calls beside the camera. While a call rings you see who's calling and a ringing phone with the app's badge; once you're on it, your mic and the call time. Hover for the name, app and status. It works the same for FaceTime, Slack, Teams, Zoom and the others, and NotchX no longer answers, declines or mutes for you.
- Lighter on your Mac. With music playing NotchX uses about a third of the CPU it did, and almost nothing when idle.
- Rests when you do. Animations stop while the screen is asleep or locked, and slow down in Low Power Mode or with Reduce Motion.
1.0.7 · 7 November 2026
- Notch is now NotchX. Same app, new name. Your licence, settings and permissions carry over.
1.0.6 · 7 November 2026
- Clearer licence messages. If a key can't be activated, NotchX says what happened and what to do: key not found, already used on another Mac, expired, or you're offline.
1.0.5 · 7 November 2026
- First release. Music with five looks and live visualizers, messages, calls, meetings with a Join button, volume and brightness, AirPods and charger, all in the notch.
- Weather at rest: an animated sky beside the camera and the temperature; click for the next hours. Off at first, turn it on with the Weather tile.
- Signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. 14-day free trial, then $9.99 once for your Mac.
